Vancouver hangs it's head
The canucks lost game 7 last night.
Wow. I can’t believe how devastated we are. Let’s be honest, we weren’t even hockey fans a few years ago. But between soaking up some of Brock’s passion for the game over the last few years and moving to Vancouver just in time (last year) to experience the craziness that is Canadian Hockey during the playoffs, we got hooked. Like, crazy hooked. It’s almost like an Oregon Ducks game is on, except for instead of getting crazy 12 times a season it’s like 90 times a season. I’m exhausted just watching and supporting, I can’t even begin to understand how these athletes survive a season. A disappointing finale to an amazing season, but the boys should be proud of their year!
Go Canucks!!
On the opposite end of the proud spectrum...
As sad as the loss of game 7 was…the actions of a small group of the 100k+ fans in downtown Vancouver after the game was even sadder. Some of the crowds that gathered to cheer on the Canucks decided to end their evening by erupting in a full riot. Yes, a riot. Full on looting, car burning and destruction...over a game.
It’s impossible to imagine what was going through these people’s heads and what could possibly make them think they would feel better about looting and destroying the heart of city that they joined to celebrate… and a city which went out of its way to throw them a party.
On the upside, today thousands of real Vancouverites and Canuck fans hit the city to clean up the mess made by others who don't represent the true pride and community of this city. Hopefully, the first step in healing a horrible mark on a city with an otherwise amazing reputation.
