Bonaire "home-base" Project

Bonaire "home-base" Project

Well, we're getting close.
Some details yet to wrap up, but we've also come a long way in a pretty short amount of time!

Kind of funny to look back and think that we spent our covid/pandemic time trapped on an island but trying/working to turn it info an investment (and a likely future home)... but that's kind of how it goes sometimes? Life gives you lemons, right?

In all honestly, this project has been super fun for us (likely because its been a fun design project with a bit of project management/hands-on work combined with having nature and friends all around us - which also means it wasn't all-consuming (a trap we've fallen into pretty frequently on past projects - in no large part due to my ADHD hard-wired brain).

Who would have thought... that not working on a project or crawling around on a shop floor 20 out of every 24 hours for 4-6 months straight doesn't always result in being happy/feeling great about a project?
Learning... slowly learning. ;)

More than anything, I think that this project simply provides a bit of stress relief around our foundation for future plans.

We know/are well aware that at some point were going to be too old to comfortably live on the boat and travel (we love it, but its far from easy living or stress/work free... which is part of why were so excited to have NOT waited for later in life to do it/try it)!

We also know that even now, the idea of moving back to land and not being able to simply step off of the back of the boat directly into the ocean seems horrible - so this means we can make future decisions with a bit less anxiety about moving off the boat (which would have meant also have to move away from the water).

Seems our lives have fully become one with the ocean at this point... so even despite most of our "connections" to our previous home-base in Portland having moved on over the years, this seems like a much better option for us as a home base whenever it does seem like we're ready for that type of move.

Until then... if you're looking for a beautiful island (clearly still our favorite after having visited 100s) to visit and spend time in/under the water, let us know -
We have an amazing friends and family rate! ;)
